Pilgrim Camp
STATEMENT OF FAITH
This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God which speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. Pilgrim Camp’s doctrine, practice, policies and expression of faith are therefore founded upon God’s Word and rooted in our Pentecostal heritage as a member of the Ridgewood Pentecostal Fellowship. Since Camp’s founding in 1946 the compelling focus has been to espouse a theme recurrent in Scripture, “Holiness unto the Lord.” In expressing our beliefs, we additionally affirm the biblical mandate to love one another and to show Christ’s compassion to all without partiality.
WE BELIEVE...
... there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
... in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory.
... in the Blessed Hope—Christ's second coming and the rapture of the Church.
... the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ; and that all who confess and forsake their sin receive mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
... that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
... the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing for the human body.
... the baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4 and John 7:37-39, is given to believers who ask for it.
... in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life (Eph. 5:18).
... that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27).
... that the term "marriage" has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25).
... that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and woman.
… in the sacredness of every human life from the moment of conception to our final God-given breath.
... in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost for final judgment, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.
